Take Action: Tell DC hotels to close January 15-21 and pay workers to stay home!

White nationalists are planning to come back in DC on January 17th and 20th and continue their violent attacks on our communities and our democracy. On Tuesday, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced an emergency lockdown of DC starting Wednesday. We’re calling on every hotel in DC to close from January 15 to 21 and to pay workers to stay home during this dangerous and potentially violent week.

We need your help to call hotels and ask them to close. Make phone calls to the priority hotels below as well as Mayor Bowser.

Call priority hotels

Hyatt Place K Street (202) 830-1900
Grand Hyatt (202) 582-1234
Hilton Garden Inn 14th St NW (202) 783-7800
Homewood Suites by Hilton (202) 628-4663
Capital Hilton: 202 393 1000
The Line Hotel (202) 588-0525
Marriott Metro Center (202) 737-2200
The Hay Adams (202) 638-6600

What to say:

  • Hi there! I’m a DC resident and I’m calling because white nationalists are planning to come back to DC on January 16 for more violence.

  • Last time they came we asked you to disavow these customers, but that wasn’t enough. So now I’m calling to ask your hotel to completely close between January 15 and 21, and to pay workers to stay home during that time.

  • These are violent, armed insurrectionists and it is both irresponsible and immoral for your hotel to shelter them.

  • Even if you have a security plan to protect your staff and guests, as we saw last week this is about far more than just what happens on your property.

  • Can you connect me to someone who has control over the hotel’s potential closure?

Call Mayor Bowser

Office of the Mayor: (202) 727-2643

What to say:

  • Hi there! I’m a resident of Ward [#]/I’m a DC neighbor and I want to thank Mayor Bowser for recognizing that DC is facing emergency threats between now and the inauguration.

  • The lockdown order issued today will not keep us safe from white nationalist violence, and I am calling today to ask the mayor to order all hotels to close between January 15-21, and to pay workers to stay home during that closure.

  • Can you please pass this message on to the Mayor and ask her to close all DC hotels this week?
