Mayor Bowser: Shut Down DC Hotels for Inauguration Week

White nationalists are planning to come back in DC on January 17th and 20th and continue their violent attacks on our communities and our democracy. On Tuesday, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced an emergency lockdown of DC starting Wednesday. We’re calling on Mayor Bowser to order the closure of hotels in DC to close from January 15 to 21.

We're also calling on hotels in DC to pay workers to stay home during this dangerous and potentially violent week.

During today’s press briefing, Mayor Bowser told reporters that she is considering taking the step of closing DC’s hotels for inauguration week. Call and email her NOW to tell her to take action to keep white supremacists out of our city!

  • Hi there! I’m a resident of Ward [#]/I’m a DC neighbor and I want to thank Mayor Bowser for recognizing that DC is facing emergency threats between now and the inauguration.

  • The lockdown order issued today will not keep us safe from white nationalist violence, and I am calling today to ask the mayor to order all hotels to close between January 15-21, and to pay workers to stay home during that closure.
