#ShutDownDC and Long Live GoGo: Deliver Democracy to Postmaster General Louis Dejoy

Sunday, August 23 at 7pm

Meet in Kalorama Park

Earlier this month, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, one of Donald Trump’s major donors, announced plans to make dramatic cuts to the U.S. Postal Service in the leadup to the 2020 election. Following a massive backlash -- including protests at DeJoy’s apartment in DC and his house in Greensboro, NC -- DeJoy backtracked and said he would hold off on his most dramatic changes until after the election.

That’s a big victory, but we’re not done. We need to make sure that the Postal Service gets the emergency funding it needs to weather the COVID-19 pandemic and handle mail-in ballots in this year’s election. And going forward we need to expand the USPS, not make cuts to this essential service!

DeJoy is getting hauled in front of the House Oversight Committee to explain himself first thing on Monday morning. On Sunday night we’re going to drop by his swanky apartment again to deliver some democracy and make sure that he doesn’t rest easy with his dreams of privatizing our Postal Service! Meet us at 7pm in Kalorama Park (1865 Kalorama Rd. NW, Washington, DC 20009).

Action Planning Training! 6 pm in Kalorama Park

This isn’t the first attack on democracy we’ve seen and it won’t be the last. Want to learn how to organize your own actions to confront decision makers who are trying to rig the election? Join us in Kalorama Park at 6 pm for a short workshop on planning creative and effective actions. We’ll cover the basics of planning actions, taking different roles to make them happen, and working together in small groups.
